Urban Geography Study Group

The emphasis of our Urban Geography working group is in the field of social scientific urban research. Based on the interest of being actively engaged in shaping urban space, our working group is dealing with questions of urban and regional development in the context of culturalised urban policies. It is important for us to reflect on current challenges posed by global economic and demographic change. We aim at co-thinking global dynamics with local problems and planning cultures. Additionally, we pay particular attention to the analysis of the specific perspectives of different urban institutions, including local administrations, planning authorities, business development agencies, city marketing and tourist offices.
